The caregiver works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient’s personal needs, to promote the patient’s comfort, and a safe environment. The Caregiver is responsible for helping patients with everyday activities and other essential duties and responsibilities as follows:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of the caregiver include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Serving as a companion to clients.
  2. Transporting clients to and from appointments, errands, activities, etc.
  3. Managing medication
  4. Preparing meals
  5. Interpersonal skills, including exceptional patience and listening skills.
  6. Performing light housekeeping duties (e.g., keeping room clean, laundry)
  7. Providing bathing and dressing assistance
  8. Keeping proper care records and reporting changes to the clinical supervisor.
  9. Encouraging socialization and participation in community activities.
  10. Following patient care plan.
  11. Communicating with families, co-workers, and supervisors regarding care.
  12. Assisting with transfer and mobility
  13. Shopping and running errands.
  14. Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. Displays initiative and able to work with minimal direct supervision.
  3. Empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired.
  4. Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
  5. Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with the Organization requirements and is in good working order. (With no record of violations).
  6. Proof of Citizenship / Legal status
  7. Two professional references.
  8. Two forms of ID compliant with 1-9 requirement
  9. Must clear Criminal background check.
  10. Proof of Negative Tuberculosis Test or Chest X-ray within the last two years.
